FLASH ART #4. English Issue, 2018, Czech & Slovak Edition

Flash Art Czech & Slovak Edition ENGLISH ISSUE No.4 contains a selection of texts published in Czech and Slovak during the last two years.

Since it was created in 2006, the magazine has shone a spotlight on the Czech and Slovak art scenes and systematically plotted the most relevant themes being explored at the present time. This English edition is the fourth such selection in the magazine’s history and offers profiles of artists whose work represents the cutting edge of Czech and Slovak art, whether this involve emerging talents (Daniela and Linda Dostálková, Martin Kohout, Pavel Sterec and Matej Vakula), or those artists who have already established a name for themselves on the international art scene (such as Magdalena Jetelová, Rudolf Sikora and Viktor Pivovarov). The double cover of this edition is devoted to the Czech artist Zbyněk Baladrán and the Dutch-born photographer Illah Van Oijen, who has long been working in Slovakia. Other contributions examine photography as a medium along with its options and possibilities, critical practice in the spheres of progressive curatorship (an interview with Michal Novotný and Marek Pokorný), and the realm of cultural activism (Dušan Barok).
